Best Time to Visit Nashville
Hear me out when I say that I visited Nashville the weekend before Thanksgiving and had the BEST time! To be specific, it was Sunday evening, but you couldn’t even tell… Let me tell you, downtown Nashville was still lively and full of music! Despite all the people, there were no lines to get into any of the live music venues. And it wasn’t too cold outside so you could walk around comfortably with boots and a jacket.
We started exploring Broadway after 5pm and head back to the hotel around 11pm. That was plenty of time to visit several music venues! Most of the honky tonks were open until midnight to 3am, plus they open at noon.
Head to Lower Broadway for a wild night out in Music City! This historic strip boasts more than 30 bars and honky-tonks offering live music 24/7—and the best part? You don’t have to worry about paying a cover charge at any of the music venues. Just make sure to tip the musicians!

I’m usually found chillin’ on the second and rooftop levels at this awesome bar – they mix the music up so you never know what you’re gonna hear! The first level’s more for traditional honky tonk, so keep that in mind. Make sure to keep an eye on their Facebook page too – they post updates when someone famous stops by! The rooftop bar is small but a nice touch to the upper level.
Tootsies opens its doors at 9:30am – and it’s not long before the tables on the main floor are packed with people ready to get the party started. As they say, if you wanna drink all day you gotta start in the morning!

Right off Broadway, you can hear the band rocking out from their 1st floor windows. There are 4 floors with a different vibe on each one – rock, acoustic, and a rooftop with a band and DJ. Plus, the rooftop has one of the best views of Broadway around! You get to take it all in from both sides.

Robert’s Western World has been a staple of Nashville’s iconic music scene for years, located just a stone’s throw away from the iconic Ryman Auditorium. Its history dates back to the Civil War – originally used as a warehouse and office space for river merchants.

We absolutely loved their old-school country vibes and the amazing atmosphere and staff at the Saloon!
It’s scorching inside Whiskey Bent Saloon on hot nights, so be ready to sweat! They don’t serve late night snack food, so don’t show up if you’re after a bite to eat.

Luke’s 32 Bridge
We were blown away by the talent at Luke’s 32 Bridge – each level was top-notch! Everyone brought something new to the table and we had an awesome time. If you’re into cold drinks and great music, check out this spot.
Head to the rooftop bar for amazing views! Three levels to explore with a unique atmosphere for everyone to love.
I tried the 32 Bridge Sour and it was to die for! If you’re into whiskey and amaretto, this drink is a must-try.

Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa
This bar was a blast! There was great music and delicious drinks. Miranda Lambert knows how to create a lively music venue with beautiful decor!
The live music at Casa Rosa is totally lit – the live music is bumping, the atmosphere is super chill, and the drinks are strong AF! Plus, they have a great selection of drinks to choose from.
The second floor restaurant? We loved it! The tacos were great but the chicken and waffles blew us away. Seriously, the best we’ve ever had. The chicken bites were delicious, and the cornbread waffle was so light and flavorful. Plus, a very nice waiter and good service to top it all off. Husband and I both had a fantastic time – highly recommend it!

The Second Fiddle is a beloved Lower Broadway honky tonk, boasting classic country music memorabilia adorning the walls. Places to Eat on the Broadway Strip
Keep in mind that many of the honky tonks serve food, and most of it is deep-fried deliciousness. But I wanted to share some of the regular restaurants that are within walking distance of Honky Tonk Highway. There is even a music hall with all kinds of international foods!
Merchants
Merchants has been a mainstay in Nashville’s downtown dining scene for over a quarter of a century. Their first-floor bistro menu offers an intriguing fusion of contemporary and classic American cuisine, featuring unique dishes such as duck fat tater tots. Their second-floor dinner space exudes an air of sophistication, featuring premium steak and seafood entrees. The tater tots and deviled eggs are out of this world!

Hattie B’s Hot Chicken
If you enjoy fried chicken and hot sauce, then you will LOVE Nashville Hot Chicken! Many restaurants in Nashville serve hot chicken, and Hattie B’s serves the famous Southern dish at various spice levels.
Let me tell you about all the great food that lives up to the hype. The menu is simple but so amazing! I ordered the fried hot chicken sandwich, which comes with one side. However, I ordered an additional side because indulging in all the Southern foods while in Nashville! I ordered the pimento mac and cheese plus the bacon cheddar grits. I also chose ranch for a dipping sauce.
The hot chicken sandwich is out of this world! The chicken was super tender and juicy. I actually pulled my sandwich apart because I preferred to cut up the chicken and dip it in the ranch sauce. The bread seemed to be very buttery and toasted, so I enjoyed eating it separately!
I was also impressed with the sides. The mac and cheese and grits were both so creamy and warm. They gave my taste buds a break from the spicy chicken!
We waited in line for a good 45 minutes and then probably another 20 minutes to get our food. But I’m telling you that it was completely worth the wait!!

Jack’s Bar-B-Que
Aside from fried hot chicken, you can’t visit Nashville without eating some BBQ! The pork shoulder was tender and flavorful and the accompanying sides complemented it perfectly. The greens beans were especially noteworthy, as were the spiced apples, which provided a sweet, dessert-like finish. Whatever you order at Jack’s Bar-B-Que, you can’t go wrong.

Broadway Brewhouse Downtown
Broadway Brewhouse Downtown is an ideal spot to enjoy a variety of beer. With a selection of up to 72 beers on tap, visitors can find something to suit their tastes. The bar also boasts a unique Cajun vibe and is known for its delicious wings.

Sun Diner
If you’re in the mood for delicious chicken and waffles, you’ve got to check out the Sun Diner! Their house-made syrup is amazing. Just be aware that it’s a small restaurant so you might have to wait a bit. No need to fear the line – it moves pretty fast. Treat yourself to some french toast, it’s outta this world! Plus, the breakfast wrap is unreal. You can’t go wrong with anything here.

Red Phone Booth
This speakeasy had it all! Service, food, drinks, and a great atmosphere – we felt right at home the second we stepped through the secret phone booth entrance. It’s the perfect speakeasy experience.

Assembly Food Hall
Assembly Food Hall is a premier destination for visitors and friends looking to sample the wide variety of delicious culinary offerings. With its vast selection of food, everyone is sure to find something they will love.
All of the vendors serve diverse cuisine from Mexican, Middle Eastern, and Asian cultures and options to accommodate vegan, gluten-free, and dairy-free diets. An abundance of indoor and outdoor seating is available to patrons, while live entertainment often adds to the atmosphere.
The Assembly Food Hall features two sides connected by a bridge. Along the perimeter of each side, guests can enjoy a variety of food vendors, with a bar at the end. Entertainment is also provided, featuring a live band playing different music genres on each side.
